Celebrating the Nomination of Dr. Ioana Ghergulescu for AI Person of the Year
We are delighted to announce that our Head of Adaptive Learning, Dr Ioana Ghergulescu, has been nominated as a finalist for the 2025 AI Awards Ireland – “AI Person of the Year”.
This nomination recognises outstanding contributions to the field of artificial intelligence in Ireland. The “AI Person of the Year” award is designed to honour individuals who lead AI teams, drive transformation in AI practices, and demonstrate significant impact in their domain.
Why Ioana’s Work Stands Out
- At Adaptemy, Ioana leads the Research and Adaptive Learning teams and is directly responsible for the analytics and algorithm‑core of the technology.
- Her research track includes integrating generative AI and adaptive learning models to personalise education at scale — helping learners engage more deeply and ensuring pedagogical integrity alongside technical innovation,
- With her academic background (PhD‑level work in adaptive learning, knowledge‑tracing, sub‑skills modelling) and her applied leadership, Ioana bridges the gap between theory and real‑world educational outcomes.
- The nomination’s description highlights “developing adaptive, generative AI for education, therefore improving engagement, accessibility and …” as a core rationale.
What this means for our EdTech community
By being recognised at this level:
- We reaffirm our commitment to pedagogically‑grounded AI rather than AI for its own sake.
- It signals that research‑driven adaptive learning is gaining recognition at national/cross‑sector level.
- It provides momentum for future innovation, partnerships and visibility in AI in education.
