Adaptemy are delighted to announce we have acquired the Build Up brand and programme, Ireland’s leading K-12 adaptive learning product.
Adaptemy will now serve the Irish schools market directly, enabling us to bring the latest educational solutions to students and teachers across Ireland. All existing schools, teachers and students will be served directly by the Adaptemy team from the coming school year and we look forward to bringing the improved Build Up programme to a wider audience.
Background
In 2015, Folens Publishers licensed the Adaptemy Learning Platform and developed maths programmes under the Build Up brand. Folens are Ireland’s leading educational publisher and the team behind Ireland’s leading maths textbook programme, Active Maths. Folens offered the Build Up programme alongside Active Maths to schools as the first “digital workbook” in the market.
Since its launch in 2015, the Build Up programme has been adopted by about 20% of Irish postprimary schools. The wide range of implementation scenarios include daily maths practice in iPad and 1-to-1 laptop schools, weekly maths reinforcement sessions in the computer lab, as a tool for learning support, and weekly homework assignments alongside the textbook.
Measurably improved learning
The impact of the programme is measurable and has been growing over time thanks both to product and content improvements. The learning data accumulated has enabled the adaptive learning system to better adjust to the needs of each learner.
In 2018, the average Net Grade Improvement per lesson reached 13.4%, up from 12.4% the previous year. More impressively, the average Net Grade Improvement for students who follow the adaptive recommendations was 21.6%.
The Build Up programme is a well-proven approach to using adaptive practice to complement classroom teaching in mathematics.
Future
The Build Up programme encompasses courses in mathematics for the Junior Certificate (Ordinary and Higher Levels) and Transition Year syllabuses. Adaptemy plan to bring the latest learning technologies and methodologies to the Build Up programme and extend the coverage to further syllabuses and levels.
